Assistant Farm Manager

Fitchburg, Wisconsin

Four Winds Farm is currently interviewing for a full-time assistant farm manager. The ideal candidate would be passionate about and have some experience with sustainable, regenerative agriculture and permaculture. They would enjoy working outside, be able to operate general farm machinery (tractor, skid steer, mower, sprayer, plow) or be willing to learn. Crops/projects include hops, hay, kernza, landscaping for event barn, demonstration orchard, prairie and woods restoration, trail maintenance, pasture maintenance, sheep, and chickens. Being organized and comfortable with record keeping systems is essential. Animal husbandry skills are a plus.

Applicants must be pleasant, responsible, reliable and be able to work independently as well as with others. They must be able to lift 50-75 lbs and have a valid driver’s license. Occasional interaction with the public during community or educational events may be required.

Hours are based on a 40-hour work week but may vary due to seasonal demands.

Starting wage is $18/hour and benefits are available after 3 months of employment. If you love all things farming and are ecologically minded, this is the job for you!
